Pre-Hurricane Sandy

Hey, everyone, good news! I am about to be in the middle of my very first hurricane! I know. I am pretty excited myself. Scared? Nay. Excited about photo ops, no electricity for three days, lots of soup/chili cooked over an indoor fireplace, and not showering? Yay. I find the last one ironic. I suppose we could just turn the house into an indoor bath. Then maybe I could get clean that way.

Tongue-in-cheek humor aside, say a prayer, specifically, for the Trinity Forum Academy. We sit right on the Chesapeake Bay. The edge of our backyard is about 3 or 4 feet above sea level. Our house about 8 or so feet. Flooding is likely. Electricity going bye-bye is a virtual certainty. Oh, by the way, when our electricity goes out, so does ability to use water (that includes flushing). Needless to say we've spent the day filling up bathtubs, sinks, pitchers, and pots. I suppose our native methods of bathroom usage will be kicking into high gear.

Here are some pre-hurricane photos and such. Water is rising really quite fast and it's raining so I had to take photos quickly. If we have internet, I will try to post some more as things progress...if it's safe. Enjoy--unless that's weird.
